The Farm

Front Porch is a small farm located in the Margaree River Valley on Cape Breton Island. We grow a large variety of vegetables and raise free range eggs using organic standards. We also have a small sugar bush where we boil on an open fire which makes for an old fashioned  smokey maple syrup.  Produce is grown on 2 acres in alluvial soils of the river valley and on contoured swales on our south facing slope. We sell through a CSA , various Farmers Markets, restaurants and retails stores across the Island.

With the help of his family and several interns, Peter LeBlanc manages Front Porch Farm each season. Having been born & raised on a farm in Margaree, Peter’s foundation in farming comes from seeing his parents, Leo & Denise (Miss Dee), raise cattle and sheep on lush meadow pastures and steep valley hillsides. Peter first remembers tending to gardens in the backyard with his grandmother Catherine. His parents along with his brother Ben continue to raise beef and lamb just a few kilometers down the road.
